BC Academy AI

1. Eligibility and Access

To use this platform, you must:

• Be a currently enrolled student, parent/guardian of an enrolled student, a member of staff, or an authorised administrator at BC Academy International School
• Use your designated school Google account (@bcacad.org) for teacher and student access
• For parent access: have your personal email pre-registered by the school
• Comply with all applicable UAE laws and these Terms

Access is provided at the school's discretion and may be revoked at any time for violation of these Terms or school policy.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use this platform only for legitimate school-related purposes. You must not:

• Attempt to access accounts, data, or functionality you are not authorised to use
• Use the BCA Assistant to generate content that violates UAE federal law, Islamic values, or school policy
• Share your login credentials or session with others
• Use the platform to harass, bully, or harm other users
• Attempt to circumvent security controls, age restrictions, or content filters
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the platform
• Upload, transmit, or store any malware, harmful code, or unauthorised data
• Use the platform for any commercial purpose without written permission from BC Academy

3. BCA Assistant — Rules of Use

The BCA Assistant may be used to:

• Ask questions about school subjects, assignments, and curriculum topics
• Search and discuss content from your Google Classroom, Drive, and Calendar
• Get help understanding academic concepts (using the Socratic method for students)
• For teachers: generate lesson plan outlines, research curriculum topics, manage workload
• For parents: understand your child's academic progress and get home learning advice

The BCA Assistant must not be used to:

• Request content that conflicts with UAE law or Islamic values
• Seek exam answers or circumvent the learning process
• Discuss topics outside the school-appropriate scope assigned to your role
• Attempt to "jailbreak" or override the AI's content policies

BC Academy does not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated responses. Always verify important information with your teacher or the relevant official source.

4. Google Workspace Integration

Teachers and students sign in using Google OAuth and grant this platform read-only access to their Google Classroom, Drive, and Calendar data. By signing in with the school button, you:

• Authorise BC Academy AI to read (not modify) your Google Classroom, Drive, and Calendar
• Acknowledge that your Google OAuth tokens are stored securely for the purpose of providing the platform's features
• Can revoke access at any time via Google Account Permissions

Parents sign in with minimal Google permissions (name and email only) and are not granted any Google Workspace access.

5. Intellectual Property

The BC Academy AI platform, its design, software, and content are the property of BC Academy International School. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.

Content you access via Google Workspace (documents, assignments, etc.) remains subject to the original ownership and licensing of that content.

AI-generated responses are provided for educational use within the platform. You may use AI responses for your schoolwork but must not redistribute them as your own original work in violation of academic integrity policies.

6. Privacy

Your use of this platform is subject to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please read it carefully.

7. Safeguarding

This platform operates within BC Academy's safeguarding framework. If the BCA Assistant receives a message that raises concerns about the welfare or safety of a student, it is designed to direct the user to the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

If you become aware of any safeguarding concern, contact the school immediately: admin@bcacad.org.

8. Service Availability

We aim to keep the platform available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The platform may be unavailable for maintenance, updates, or due to issues with third-party services (Google, Anthropic, Supabase).

Session data (chat history) is stored in server memory and may be lost on server restart. Do not rely on the BCA Assistant history for long-term record-keeping.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by UAE law, BC Academy is not liable for:

• Inaccurate or incomplete AI-generated responses
• Loss of session data or chat history
• Disruptions to third-party services (Google, Anthropic)
• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform

This platform is provided as a school support tool, not a substitute for professional academic, medical, legal, or psychological advice.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates and the Emirate of Dubai. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Dubai, UAE.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top when changes are made.
